LUCY MAUD MONTGOMERY

Author of "Anne of Green Gables", and some thirty-two other books including the "Anne" series and the "Pat" series.

We take great pride in the fact that she had resided, even though only for a short time,  in the city of  Prince Albert

from August 1890  to  August 1891.

EGLINTOUNE VILLA - THE MONTGOMERY HOME IN PRINCE ALBERT
S.W. CORNER OF 11TH STREET AND CENTRAL AVENUE

While in Prince Albert, Maud resided with her father and step mother in Eglintoune Villa on 11th street West,

just off Central Avenue. She attended high school in September in one room of a multi-purpose building which

was to become the Royal Hotel at a later date. The Nisbet Academy had been destroyed by fire in the beginning

of the year. Maud had natural abilities as a public entertainer. At a concert in the town hall she recited the

"Polish Boy" , a very dramatic piece. Late in August of 1891, Senator Montgomery came to Prince Albert.

As this was Lucy Maud's grandfather, she returned east with him.
