Prince Albert and District

The site of Prince Albert was a Native campground until 1862.

The first white man to reside in what is now Prince Albert was James Isbister, June 3,1862. He left the area in 1864.

In 1866 Reverend James Nisbet arrived and named the settlement after Queen Victoria's Consort.

By 1874, 300 English settlers were located here.

The town's first volunteer fire brigade called Prince Albert's Hook And Ladder Co. No.1 was formed in August of 1883.

On display is an 1888 pumper used to fight fires. There is a period kitchen, parlour and bedroom.

Other displays include some possessions of early settlers, Indian artifacts, and Fur Trader items.
